Typical collections managed by this series include still photography, music or motion video, digital content, digital scholarship projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Support the libraries by managing and obtaining collections and digital scholarship. This role will also provide direction and decision-making for collections and projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reporting to the Director of Special Collections, serve as a subject matter or domain expert to manage collections of materials, projects, scholarship. This includes developing policies and procedures, obtaining materials, providing outreach, serving as reference and providing instruction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Select and develop collections to bring into the Libraries or help manage. This includes working with faculty, students, and donors and cultivating relationships with owners of collections of interest;<\/p>\n<p>Make decisions regarding use of collections, goals for collections, and policies and procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Provide professional, technical, and subject\/domain-specific expertise and support to faculty, students, researchers, and other staff through consultation;<\/p>\n<p>Conduct outreach and teaching about the collections and digital scholarship;<\/p>\n<p>Direct and carry out physical and digital management of collections including preservation review and physical organization of collections;<\/p>\n<p>Describe, analyze and apply intellectual organization of collections;<\/p>\n<p>May supervise staff, including student, classified, professional, and librarian;<\/p>\n<p>May provide leadership and visioning for programs, collections, a library unit;<\/p>\n<p>May serve on leadership, decision-making, policy development groups; and<\/p>\n<p>Perform other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Master\u2019s degree area of curatorial focus, and 2 years of curatorial work experience.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASS SERVICE EXEMPTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Continuing Education<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New to SEIU 925 02-01-2022 per PERC Case No. 133181-E-20.<\/li>\n<li>Prior to 02-01-23 this work in UW Libraries was in professional staff job code 11219, Chief Curator (E S 10);
