{"id":3968,"date":"2023-11-08T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-08T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=3968"},"modified":"2026-06-27T18:57:50","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T01:57:50","slug":"ihme-information-specialist-iii","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/ihme-information-specialist-iii\/","title":{"rendered":"IHME Information Specialist 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>11853 (E S 8 SEIU 925 IHME Non Supv)<br \/>\n23287 (NE S 8 SEIU 925 IHME Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Within the Institute for Health Metrics Evaluation (IHME), carry out administrative and programmatic aspects of engaging and communicating with a wide variety of audiences through various forms of media and communication tools for advancing the uptake and use of IHME\u2019s data in order to support the Institutes research mission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Advance data uptake by supporting Global Engagement team processes and strategy for building a global collaboration network that participates in IHME research and by supporting the strategy of publishing and monitoring effectiveness of communication outlets and strategies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general direction, independently enhance the company&#8217;s mission and brand through technical management of digital tools. Assist with defining and leading the engagement strategy for collaborator partnership and development, define audience acquisition strategies, and support leadership with content creation strategy related to IHME campaigns and overall research agenda as well as leading the implementation of the strategy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform the work of the IHME Information Specialist II;<\/p>\n<p>Research, create and implement a comprehensive system for measuring the impact, effectiveness and influence of the Institute\u2019s digital communications;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain and optimize systems to measure digital communications and to maximize content promoting IHME\u2019s digital channels;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate closely with Global Engagement team in executing IHME\u2019s digital strategy, to increase the Institute\u2019s influence on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms;<\/p>\n<p>Research, create, and maintain an editorial calendar of external communications and promotional activities related to upcoming research studies to be published, speaking engagements of the Institute Director and other IHME leaders, and other efforts;<\/p>\n<p>Lead in drafting narratives that communicate the Institute\u2019s work effectively and succinctly; working with other IHME team members, coordinate written content creation as well as revisions to existing web content;<\/p>\n<p>Translate complex research on local, national, and international population health into compelling text that is comprehensible to targeted non-scientific audiences;<\/p>\n<p>Contribute to messaging and other outreach materials, such as brochures and other content aimed at translating IHME\u2019s findings;<\/p>\n<p>Providing counsel to members of the Global Engagement team and research teams in forming the strategic direction for content;<\/p>\n<p>Collaborate with team members to set guidelines for tone, style, and voice, ensuring IHME presents a consistent message aligned with IHME\u2019s brand strategy and platform;<\/p>\n<p>Contribute written content and ideas for to internal distribution through newsletters and other internal platforms;<\/p>\n<p>Learn the key personnel involved in each project, their roles and responsibilities, and how the different actors engaged on the projects interact with one another;<\/p>\n<p>Develop an understanding of key institutional actors in global health \u2013 communications professionals, researchers, and leaders from inter-governmental organizations, research institutions, government agencies, and media outlets; understand how these stakeholders relate specifically to IHME projects either as collaborators or as key stakeholders;<\/p>\n<p>Perform other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Mathematics, Engineering, Public Health, or related field plus three years of work experience.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASS SERVICE EXEMPTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Public Information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASS SPECIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New to SEIU 925 11-10-2020 per PERC Case No. 132072-E-19.<\/li>\n<li>Prior to 01-01-2021, this work in IHME was in professional staff job code 11538, Public Information Specialist (E S 8).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 11853 (E S 8 SEIU 925 IHME Non Supv) 23287 (NE S 8 SEIU 925 IHME Non Supv) CLASS SERIES CONCEPT Within the Institute for Health Metrics Evaluation (IHME), carry out administrative and programmatic aspects of engaging and communicating with a wide variety of audiences through various forms of media and communication tools for advancing the uptake and use of IHME\u2019s data in order to support the Institutes research mission.
