{"id":3812,"date":"2023-10-20T14:04:56","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T21:04:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=3812"},"modified":"2025-05-09T10:28:21","modified_gmt":"2025-05-09T17:28:21","slug":"fiscal-specialist-supervisor","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/fiscal-specialist-supervisor\/","title":{"rendered":"Fiscal Specialist Supervisor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17068 (NE S SEIU 925 Supv)<br \/>\n22231 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Supervise others in fiscal record keeping and support services; perform moderately complex technical fiscal analysis and financial reporting including analysis, planning, interpreting and review of a fiscal operation involving an overlap or combination of disciplines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a working supervisor, supervise Fiscal Techs\/Fiscal Specialists, clerical or other temporary\/student support staff. With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.<\/p>\n<p>Under general direction, perform and supervise the performance of a variety of moderately complex fiscal administrative support functions such as analyzing and developing budgets for grants, contracts, state funds and\/or program funds; establishing and maintaining comprehensive fiscal record keeping systems; analyzing, establishing and maintaining cost center and\/or self-sustaining accounts; maintaining professional fee records; and coordinating diverse unit-wide fiscal support functions such as payroll, travel reimbursement, purchasing and fiscal planning.<\/p>\n<p>Exercise independent judgment in interpreting and applying rules and regulations to resolve problems; advise principal investigators, staff and administrators regarding applicable policy and procedures; select\/recommend alternative courses of action. Positions at this level function in support of units with several diverse activities such as research, teaching, patient care, and community service programs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Supervise staff performing a wide variety of fiscal record keeping functions, and other fiscally related activity such as payroll, travel reimbursement, purchasing and other office activities;<\/p>\n<p>Develop, modify and maintain multiple record keeping and reporting systems for varied and complex sources of funding; develop procedures for implementation, execution, control and review\/audit of fiscal operations;<\/p>\n<p>Develop budgets for grants, contracts or other funding requests; prepare appropriate forms for contracts and agreements; develop, recommend, and\/or establish charge schedules for cost center and\/or self-sustaining accounts; calculate depreciation and amortization of equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Forecast fiscal needs\/commitments; develop long-term planning documents; participate in the planning of new programs by conducting analysis of unit needs and resources and making revenue projections;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare specialized reports; conduct special studies to research and\/or justify fiscal requests\/needs;<\/p>\n<p>Evaluate unit programs through comparison of actual performance with budgeted\/planned objectives; research and determine causative factors in expenditure trends;
