Rules around PSDs are specified in <a href=\"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/labor\/\">collective bargaining agreements<\/a> or the applicable Washington Administrative Code (WAC) for classified non-union employees. <\/p>\n<p>The progression start date changes annually to the effective date of the base pay change or as a result of personnel actions such as promotion or reclassification.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How-progression-start-dates-are-determined\"><\/span>How progression start dates are determined<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Progression start dates for classified positions are managed as follows:<\/p>\n<div class=\"table-responsive\">\n<table class=\"table table-sm\">\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th>Personnel action<\/th>\n<th>Progression start date<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>New hire, rehire after layoff, promotion<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>\n<p>If the appointment is effective the 1st through the 15th of the month, the progression start date is set as the 1st of that month.<\/P><\/p>\n<p>If the appointment is effective the 16th through the end of the month, the progression start date is set as the 1st of the following month.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Lateral transfer, demotion<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>\n<p>When a lateral transfer or demotion occurs, the progression start date should not change.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Trial Service Reversion<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>\n<p>When a trial service reversion occurs, an employee\u2019s progression start date should be reset to what it was in the original position that the employee is reverting to.<\/p>\n<p>If, based off the reset PSD, the employee would have been eligible for a progression increase in the original position they are reverting to, the employee should be given a progression increase as if the employee had never left the position.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When-is-an-employee-eligible-for-a-step-increase\"><\/span>When is an employee eligible for a step increase?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The eligibility for a step increase is determined as follows:<\/p>\n<div class=\"table-responsive\">\n<table class=\"table table-sm\">\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th>Employment program<\/th>\n<th>Base salary step<\/th>\n<th>Schedule of step increase<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Classified Non-union<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>\n<p>Base salary set at the minimum step of the range<\/p>\n<p>Base salary is set above the minimum step of the range and below the top step of the range<\/p>\n<p>For employees in the regular C1 table, and base salary is at top step L<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<p>Six months from PSD<\/p>\n<p>Twelve months from PSD<\/p>\n<p>Seventy-two months from PSD<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Contract classified<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>Base salary is below the top step of the range<\/td>\n<td>Twelve months from PSD<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Impact-of-unpaid-time-off\"><\/span>Impact of unpaid time off<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As of July 1, 2022 there is no effect on an employee\u2019s progression start date resulting from the use unpaid time off during a month unless the employee is in a classified non-union position and is furloughed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Automatic salary increase occurs on the employee\u2019s progression start date unless specified otherwise by the civil service rules or a collective bargaining agreement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":49,"featured_media":0,"parent":12106,"menu_order":90,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"no","footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-3158","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/3158","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/49"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3158"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/3158\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":12345,"href":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/3158\/revisions\/12345"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/12106"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3158"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
