{"id":2229,"date":"2024-04-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-01T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=2229"},"modified":"2026-06-28T14:45:44","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T21:45:44","slug":"checklist-create-regular-position","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/professional-staff\/checklist-create-regular-position\/","title":{"rendered":"Checklist &#8211; Create regular position"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Regular Professional Staff Position<\/h4>\n<p>This checklist is to help HR Partners and Additional Approvers ensure that a create position request is complete and ready for the HR Compensation Office\u2019s detailed review.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Review Position Request Reason.<\/strong> Ensure reason selected is <em>Create Position &gt; Employee.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Confirm that a <em>Job Posting Title<\/em><\/strong> has been provided.\n<ul>\n<li>Other existing job profile or classification titles should not be used as a Business Title. For example, a Manager should not use Assistant Director as their Business Title.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Review Requested<em> Job Profile<\/em><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Is the requested Job Profile active in Workday?<\/li>\n<li>Is the requested Job Profile consistent with the duties? A helpful resource for this is the <a href=\"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/professional-staff\/job-profiles-and-descriptors\/\">list of Payroll titles and descriptors for Professional Staff positions<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check the <em>Job Description Summary<\/em>.<\/strong> This field is <strong>optional<\/strong>. It can be blank. If used, it should contain a few sentences to describe position\u2019s purpose.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Review <em>Job Description<\/em><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Must include a detailed description of position\u2019s <strong>specific job responsibilities with estimated percent time <\/strong>breakout. Total must be 100% regardless of position\u2019s % FTE, typically in blocks of time 5% or larger.<\/li>\n<li>Must include <strong>minimum qualifications<\/strong> (required education and years of work experience) in the Job Description.<\/li>\n<li>Job duties in the Workday Job Description field must align with the duties documented on the attached forms (i.e., Pro Staff Position Description or Research Scientist\/Engineer Questionnaire)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Confirm <\/strong><em><strong>Worker Sub-Type chosen<\/strong><\/em> is <em>Regular Salary<\/em><\/li>\n<li><span data-teams=\"true\"><strong>Confirm <\/strong><i><strong>Scheduled Weekly Hours<\/strong><\/i><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>have been entered and align with selected Time Type and Worker Sub-Type.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Include Required Attachments<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"table-responsive\">\n<table class=\"table table-striped table-sm\">\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th>Type of Position<\/th>\n<th>Required Forms<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>All regular pro staff positions<\/td>\n<td>Professional Staff Position Description (PSPD) Form<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>All regular Research Scientist\/Engineer positions<\/td>\n<td>Research Scientist\/Engineer Questionnaire<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Confirm <em>Comments<\/em><\/strong> have been entered <strong>(Comments are required)<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide comments\/justifications to communicate additional details about the position, such as:\n<ul>\n<li>This is a duplicate of PN-XXXXXXX.
