{"id":12545,"date":"2026-08-03T16:10:21","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T23:10:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=12545"},"modified":"2026-08-03T16:10:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T23:10:21","slug":"graphic-designer-1","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/represented-civil-service-exempt-staff\/graphic-designer-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Graphic Designer 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>25617 (NE S SEIU 925 CC)<br \/>\n25616 (E S SEIU 925 CC)<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Develop creative, original design solutions, and visual content that supports and promotes Continuum College\u2019s Professional and Continuing Education programming and instructional content.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Executes the development, design, and delivery of visual communication materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under direct supervision, completes assigned tasks and projects, creates accessible visualizations and produces print, email, and digital communication materials in alignment with brand standards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Partner with Continuum College staff, administrators, and leadership to plan and create clear, engaging visualizations that translate information into accessible formats.<\/p>\n<p>Design print, email, and digital communication materials including infographics, reports, social media graphics, flyers, illustrations, and other visual content.<\/p>\n<p>Utilize professional design software, layout tools, and principles of typography, photography, and color to develop polished visual publications and web pages.<\/p>\n<p>Apply Continuum College and University of Washington brand standards to all visual outputs while still bringing creative, compelling design solutions to each project.<\/p>\n<p>Review, edit, and proof all visual communications to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency before distribution.<\/p>\n<p>Maintain documentation outlining design decisions, processes, and methods to support reference, continuity, and institutional knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Share design guidance, best practices, and visual communication principles to strengthen design literacy across Continuum College.<\/p>\n<p>Carry out additional design\u2011related responsibilities and special projects as assigned.<\/p>\n<p>Perform other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CIVIL SERVICE EXEMPTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Graphic Arts and Publications: Individuals having prescribed academic preparation or special training in the fields of graphic arts, printing and publications, and who are assigned to a major academic or administrative unit and who are responsible for the development and design of scholarly or related publications, or the full range of printing and publication activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>05\/01\/2026: New class per PERC Case No. 139167-E-24<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 25617 (NE S SEIU 925 CC) 25616 (E S SEIU 925 CC) CLASS SERIES CONCEPT Develop creative, original design solutions, and visual content that supports and promotes Continuum College\u2019s Professional and Continuing Education programming and instructional content.
