Often referred to as a \u201cspectrum condition\u201d that affects people to varying degrees, it is frequently characterized by challenges with repetitive behaviors and non-verbal or limited communication.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Across all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups about <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">1 in 36 U.S. children<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\"> have been identified with Autism, with boys nearly four times as likely as girls to be identified, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/autism\/data-research\/?CDC_AAref_Val=https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/ncbddd\/autism\/data.html\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">according to the CDC.<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> There is no known single cause of Autism, but many factors are thought to contribute to its development, including environmental, genetics, preexisting conditions and abnormalities in brain structure.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/ncbddd\/actearly\/index.html\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Early diagnosis<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> helps a person receive resources that can support the choices and opportunities needed to live fully.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Autism in adults can be challenging to diagnosis, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autastic.com\/is-an-autism-diagnosis-right-for-you\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">late-identified adults<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> might find that a diagnosis offers little in terms of day-to-day support or benefit &#8211; in addition to being expensive.
