\"\"The UWCFD acknowledges that we live and work on the traditional territories of the Duwamish and Coast Salish peoples and that we occupy this land. While we recognize that this acknowledgement does not replace authentic relationships with Indigenous communities, we hope that it honors with gratitude the land and the original inhabitants.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Washington\u00a0state<\/a>\u00a0there are 29 federally recognized tribes\u00a0<\/span>as well as other tribes that are not federally recognized, such as the\u00a0Duwamish, Wanapum and Chinook.\u00a0Nationally, there are\u00a0<\/span>over\u00a0550\u00a0federally recognized<\/span>\u00a0tribes. <\/span><\/p>\n

There are also large urban American Indian populations made of members of these many tribes.\u00a0<\/span>These communities are vibrant,\u00a0thriving\u00a0and diverse, and have made vital contributions\u00a0<\/span>and cultural impacts throughout our region and country.<\/span><\/p>\n
