Benefiting PAWS Wildlife Center
Oct. 31-Nov.15

In honor of the UW Owl, we are hosting an Owl-O-We’en fundraiser to benefit the PAWS Wildlife Center and help rehabilitate and release owls back to the wild.

Stunned after crashing into a window, this owl was given a safe zone while UW staff called PAWS. He was affectionately dubbed the UW Owl by social media followers.

On the morning of Sept. 13, 2019, an injured Barred Owl was found on the UW campus. He was rescued and taken to PAWS for rehabilitation, earning the nickname the UW Owl. His injuries included fractures to his pelvis and left scapula, and a lesion in his retina. Read The Whole U story about the UW Owl.

While in care at the PAWS Owl Recovery Center, the UW Owl made a full recovery! On Oct. 9, he was released in UW’s Sylvan Grove. President Ana Mari Cauce was among seven people invited to watch as the UW Owl flew to freedom. Watch the video of his release.

In honor of the UW Owl, we are hosting an Owl-O-We’en fundraiser to benefit the PAWS Wildlife Center and Owl Recovery Program. You can choose from one of the following gift levels or choose your own! Make a donation today!

PAWS receives up to 60 owls of nine different species per year. Some are injured, some are sick, some are orphaned babies, and they all need your help. The average cost of care per owl is $500 for food, medical attention and rehabilitation services.  Your support will help give every owl who comes to PAWS the chance to fly back home.

This badly injured Great Horned Owl was unknowingly stuck in the front bumper grill of a truck for 275 miles. He arrived at PAWS with a damaged eye and a fractured wing.
