Suspension of non-essential hiring has been lifted
The suspension of non-essential new hiring has been lifted as the University prepares to return to in-person work and instruction this fall. This decision is consistent with Governor Inslee’s recent recission of the statewide hiring freeze and was communicated by the Executive Office of the President and Provost in the FY22 merit authorization letter sent deans, chancellors, vice presidents and vice provosts on May 26, 2021.
Campus departments should confirm with their employment representative the new status of any staff positions that were frozen last spring. Job postings that link to the Recruitment and Hiring during COVID-19 webpage will be updated by your employment representative. Please contact your employment representative if you have hiring-related questions or your HR consultant if you have questions about the expirations of other policy related guidance.
Based on your questions about the new training requirements for hiring managers, we have published FAQs that provide additional guidance. The training requirements apply to both campus and medical center hiring managers.
