While you pay for coverage through the UW, the state designs the plans and contracts with Regence BlueShield and Washington State Rx Services to administer the plan.<\/p>\n<p>You have three UMP medical plan options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UMP Classic<\/li>\n<li>UMP Select<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/benefits\/insurance\/health\/compare-plans\/how-consumer-directed-health-plans-work\/\">UMP CDHP<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You\u2019re eligible to enroll in a UMP plan if you\u2019re\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/benefits\/health-insurance\/eligibility-for-insurance\/\">eligible for PEBB benefits<\/a>. However, you should check plan availability where you live, because not all plans are available in all counties. In most cases, you must live in a medical plan\u2019s service area to join the plan. Insurance pays the remaining percentage of the cost. With\u00a0<b>copayments<\/b>, on the other hand, you pay a fixed amount (for example, $20).<\/p>\n<p>Generally, you\u2019ll pay coinsurance after your visit the doctor, when the bill arrives in the mail. The most direct way to find out is to call the plan and ask. Alternatively, you can read the plan\u2019s Certificate of Coverage (also called the benefits booklet), which describes the plan in detail. These booklets are long, but they can be helpful if you need to know something specific.<\/p>\n<p>If you simply want an overview of a plan\u2019s coverage and costs, take a look at the plan Summary of Benefits and Coverage, an easy-to-read summary that lets you quickly review health plans. However, they only apply to Tier 2 prescription drugs, so you don\u2019t have to pay the deductible if you use prescription drugs from any other tier, which includes most generic and low-cost drugs.<\/p>\n<p>For all the plans, you pay coinsurance for prescriptions. The amount you pay increases as you move up the tiers from the least expensive, generic drugs, to the more expensive, specialty drugs. The one exception is the CDHP plan, which charges the same coinsurance for all tiers of drugs.<\/p>\n<p>You can find complete details about prescription drug coverage by reviewing the plan\u2019s Certificate of Coverage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uwhr-toc-top-btn\"><a href=\"#toc\">Return to top<\/a><\/p><h4 id=\"file-a-claim\">File a claim<\/h4>\n<p>You don\u2019t have to submit a claim when you visit a provider who is part of your plan\u2019s network. You may have to submit a claim if you receive services for a provider that is outside your network or if you have other insurance where your UMP coverage is secondary.
