Only employees who live in Clark County or Cowlitz County in Washington State, or selected counties in Oregon can enroll in the Kaiser Permanente NW plans. If you do live in one of these counties, you have the option of enrolling either in a Kaiser Permanente NW plan or in the UMP Classic, Select, or CDHP plan<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re eligible to enroll in a Kaiser Permanente NW plan if you\u2019re eligible for PEBB benefits<\/a> and live in the plan\u2019s service area.<\/a><\/p>\n

Provider networks<\/h4>\n

A plan\u2019s network consists of doctors, clinics, hospitals, specialists, and other health care providers. By using providers within your network, your health care costs will be significantly lower than if you use providers outside your network.<\/p>\n

To browse each plan\u2019s network or to find a specific provider, either call the plan directly or use the plan\u2019s web search tool.<\/p>\n

Cost overview<\/h4>\n

Copayments or coinsurance?<\/h5>\n

With\u00a0coinsurance<\/b>, the costs you pay for services are calculated as a percentage (for example, 20 percent). Insurance pays the remaining percentage of the cost. With\u00a0copayments<\/b>, on the other hand, you pay a fixed amount (for example, $20).<\/p>\n

Generally, you\u2019ll pay coinsurance after you visit the doctor when the bill arrives in the mail. Copayments are usually made at the doctor\u2019s office when you receive the service.<\/p>\n

While plans using coinsurance are more common, some people prefer plans with copayments because costs are more predictable.<\/p>\n

Coverage overview<\/h4>\n

While all plans cover the same basic health care services, you may want to know whether or not a certain service is covered by the plan. The most direct way to find out is to call the plan and ask. Alternatively, you can read the plan\u2019s Certificate of Coverage (also called the benefits booklet), which describes the plan in detail. These booklets are long, but they can be helpful if you need to know something specific.<\/p>\n

If you simply want an overview of a plan\u2019s coverage and costs, take a look at the plan Summary of Benefits and Coverage, an easy-to-read summary that lets you quickly review health plans. You can compare options based on price, benefits, and other features that may be important to you.<\/p>\n

Prescription drug coverage<\/h5>\n

Coverage is tiered: the amount you pay increases as you move up the tiers from the least expensive, generic drugs, to the more expensive, specialty drugs. You can find complete details about prescription drug coverage by reviewing the plan\u2019s Certificate of Coverage.<\/p>\n

Plan ID Cards<\/h5>\n

After you enroll, your health plan will send you an identification (ID) card to show to providers when you receive care. If you have questions about your ID card, contact your plan directly.<\/p>\n
