Professional & Organizational Development

SLP Level 2

Level 2 of the Strategic Leadership Program is a suite of offerings designed for UW managers, directors, and other executives who operate in complex environments and must be successful in multiple areas, including strategic planning, organizational change, and performance management. Current SLP Level 2 offerings are Leadership Advantage and Core Strengths Accountability.

Leadership Advantage is an online learning platform that provides unlimited access to self-directed learning for leaders, which means you can choose to read or view whatever content meets your current needs or strategic goals. Rather than classes or sessions, content is organized in 41 leadership tracks (shown below), each of which offers a multitude of assets, including summaries, scenarios, self-tests, and a post-assessment.

A Leadership Advantage subscription includes an exclusive Leadership Channel featuring short videos from thought-leaders and management experts as well as live events.

Testimonials

“I’ve been so impressed with the breadth of subject matter covered by Leadership Advantage. The material is an incredible value for the price, and the program offers useful information in an accessible format for anyone who wants to improve their understanding of the topics.”

“Based on the classes I’ve taken so far, Leadership Advantage is easy to use. While the material in a particular module can get repetitive, there are usually takeaways that help you think differently about your team, which has made it a good investment for my development.”

“I highly recommend Leadership Advantage to any staff member, no matter what position you hold. I found that it has helped immensely in building my relationships with my coworkers and other individuals outside my department. In addition, you can always find a short video clip that is pertinent to an issue you may be having and that can help open the doors to discussion and discovery.”

Faculty Coordinator, Body Imaging, Department of Radiology

Instead of carrots or sticks, Core Strengths Accountability provides a bridge. The Core Strengths approach shows you how to connect motivations and behaviors to produce the type of intrinsic accountability that leads to a more engaged workforce. By integrating people, performance, and process, Core Strengths offers a unique perspective on your own strengths, communication preferences, and conflict style while providing a framework for uncovering others’ motivations and building a proactive culture of accountability.
