Negotiations Recap for March 21, 2016

This recap summarizes the 22nd bargaining session between the UW and the UWHA to form the first union contract for UW medical and dental residents and fellows (collectively called “Residents” below). This was the eighth session to be facilitated by a State-appointed mediator.

Synopsis

Several UWHA team members were on on-call duty, and therefore the union did not present any counter-proposals. Instead, the parties discussed outstanding issues, and UW highlighted the many areas where meaningful gains for Residents have been achieved, including transportation funding, moonlighting improvements, professional development funding, and a new extended leave benefit.

Next Steps

The next UW-UWHA bargaining mediation session is scheduled for March 23.
