DEFINITION
Lead and perform journey-level plumbing, steamfitting, and pipe fitting work.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Positions in this class are distinguished by the responsibility to assign and lead work at a project or job location, to instruct other assigned plumbers, to correct and specify methods, and to perform plumbing, steam fitting, and pipe fitting work.
TYPICAL WORK
Perform all duties of a plumber/pipefitter/steamfitter;
Lead assigned personnel in the performance of work;
Assure adherence to safety rules and precautions by assigned personnel;
Develop preliminary cost estimates for installation, construction, and repairs;
Develop methods and procedures to be followed by assigned personnel;
May perform work in other trades;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
One-year, full-time experience as a journey plumber/pipefitter/steamfitter or equivalent trade skill. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Examination Requirements:
A job element examination (including written, E & T and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability and other elements which are established through job analysis.
