BASIC FUNCTION
Plant, cultivate and maintain greenhouse plants.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, perform routine greenhouse duties.
TYPICAL WORK
Cultivate and propagate plants from seeds, cutting, or graftings;
Mix soil, moss and other plant bed ingredients;
Regulate environmental factors in greenhouse and growth chambers;
Harvest, clean, treat, and store seed;
Clean, sterilize, and fumigate work areas and equipment; maintain greenhouse tools and equipment;
Index test plants for virus by biological methods;
Label plants and maintain records;
Lay sod and transplant materials;
Apply sprays, dusts, or fumigate to control pests;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
One year of gardening or groundskeeping experience OR equivalent education/experience.
