DEFINITION

Locate, inspect, tag, and record inventorial capital equipment.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Positions in this class are distinguished by responsibility for maintaining an inventory of all institution-owned equipment including that at off-campus sites.

TYPICAL WORK

Coordinate with departmental personnel to arrange to inventory equipment;

Inspect equipment to determine if it is inventoriable and tag and mark equipment;

Transfer excess equipment items to excess storage;

Maintain records, order inventory decals and cards, and prepare departmental, state, and related reports;

Answer questions and resolve inventory problems;

Coordinate with data processing personnel in establishing inventory system procedures;

May lead the work of clerical assistants;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

High School graduation or GED Certificate and one year of inventory, stockroom, or related experience.

Six months of additional applicable experience may be substituted for educational requirements. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Examination Requirements:

A job element examination (including written, E & T and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability and other elements which are established through job analysis.
