BASIC FUNCTION

Patrol and enforce parking regulations in campus parking areas.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision of University of Washington Police Department, patrol and enforce codes and ordinances in campus parking areas. Exercise independent judgment when issuing citations or warnings for parking infractions. Assist the public by providing information concerning parking regulations, locations and directions.

TYPICAL WORK

Patrol assigned campus parking areas on radio equipped vehicles; observe parking and traffic patterns; issue citations for parking violations;

Operate hand held computers to generate citations; prepare warnings manually;

Identify and report inadequate signage;

Report traffic and parking conditions and incidents requiring police investigation;

Appear in court to testify on parking citations;

Direct traffic for scheduled activities and in the event of a traffic accident, campus construction, or other traffic disruptions;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

One year public contact work in a customer service environment and possession of a valid Washington State motor vehicle driver's license and no previous felony convictions.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
