CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Perform a variety of operations, routine maintenance and production duties in support of media services such as graphics, photography, audio visual and video equipment, and multi-media computerized systems.

BASIC FUNCTION

Prepare and present media instructional materials such as graphic aids, transparencies and posters and set up, operate, and provide routine maintenance of multi-media equipment such as CD ROMs, interactive computers, Laser discs, LCD displays, video projectors, and audio and video duplication equipment.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, perform a variety of routine media services activities such as projection, recording, playback, photocopy, cleaning and adjusting. Refer other than routine activities to higher level technicians.

TYPICAL WORK

Produce instructional materials such as slides, transparencies, charts and posters; assist higher level technicians in the production or presentation of instructional materials such as computerized multi-media materials, films, and audio and video recordings;

Perform routine cleaning and maintenance such as cleaning heads and tightening nuts and bolts of media equipment;

Set up audio and video recording and/or playback equipment, microfilming, lighting, and staging equipment; perform minor construction and rigging jobs necessary to such setups;

Set up and operate or assist others in the operation of various audio-visual and video equipment such as film and slide projectors, amplifiers, speaker systems, television cameras and monitors, receivers, audio and video tape recorders, video projectors and interactive media systems;

Comply with copyright law and practice as it applies to the duplication and presentation of media materials;

May assist in the scheduling of media equipment; may assist in maintaining stock and inventory records on materials, equipment and parts;

May load cameras and film magazines; perform routine photography tasks and assist in processing films; assist in film sound track recording;

Perform related duties as required.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

High school graduation AND six months of media services experience

OR

equivalent education/experience.
