CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Receive and coordinate requests for telephone equipment repair, configuration revisions and new installations.
BASIC FUNCTION
Perform routine analysis tasks in a multi-vendor environment related to the provision of institutional telecommunication services at an institution having 7,000 lines or more.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
First level class of series; Under general supervision, perform routine analysis tasks such as analyzing equipment and system failures, analyzing service interruptions to determine vendor responsibility in equipment/service failures, preparing specifications for reconfigurations and additions to existing equipment, assessing vendor response to end-user complaints, coordinating and scheduling multi-vendor repair activities and maintaining equipment inventory and configuration records.
TYPICAL WORK
Analyze user reports of telephone system malfunction; identify the responsible vendor;
Prepare detailed specification documents for acquisition of appropriate vendor equipment and services for reconfigurations and additions to existing equipment;
Analyze user requests for reconfiguration of and/or new additions to telephone equipment and services; record and transcribe such requests onto internal coordination documents for workload monitoring and dissemination to available staff;
Schedule and coordinate multi-vendor repair and installation activities;
Assess vendor response to end-user complaints;
Maintain internal records of repairs, new service requests and equipment and inventory configurations;
Review vendor invoicing for telephone equipment and services; assist with any required rebill and explain such rebilling to users as necessary;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union
Two years of college or accredited telecommunications training, AND two years of experience in CENTREX and/or PBX systems service order processing activities involving analysis techniques and telephone installation and repair or equivalent; OR, an equivalent combination of qualifying experience and education.
Equivalent education/experience will be substituted for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
