BASIC FUNCTION

Supervise personnel who perform work involving receipt of and accountability for funds. Monitor and administer departmental cash handling controls, policies, and procedures.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.

TYPICAL WORK

Interpret rules, regulations, and policies; review work for accuracy and compliance with procedures; disseminate changes in policies and procedures to cashiers;

Maintain records, compile data, and oversee preparation of reports;

Monitor and suggest improvements for procedures used to receive fee payments, tuition payments and any other assigned cash flow operations;

Safeguard monies deposited with the institution; review receipt vouchers; prepare daily bank deposits;

Investigate and resolve cash discrepancies and customer complaints;

Maintain, balance, and replenish central change and cashiering change funds;

Perform the duties of Cashiers;

May perform assigned duties utilizing automated equipment, e.g., computer terminals;

May provide banking services for departments which are not authorized to deal directly with a bank;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of fiscally-related work such as bank teller or retail salesclerk including six months of lead duties

OR

equivalent education/experience.
